Modern contemporary galley-style kitchen-diner commissioned by ABGC Architects for an new build externsion on a two storey mid-terrace home in Rialto. The main theme of the architectural design was the use of concrete sleepers, worktops and birch plywood cabinets.
Rialto Village, D8, County Dublin, Ireland
The kitchen is in a minimalist style, with frameless birch plywood construction, and comprises a main wall length counter, a kitchen island, and a built-in pantry with fridge-freezer alcove.
The cabinets were designed to sit on custom, cast concrete sleepers created by Mike Ryan of Lyshna Design, and the kitchen island was designed to incorporate a cast and polished concrete work-surface and concrete drawer fronts.
The kitchen island incorporates an overhang for the breakfast bar and a precise aperture for the hob to match the built-in oven below.
The wall length counter worksurface is aluminium formica, with a similar material splashback behind the pressed steel sink, which rises to meet birch plywood handleless wall cabinets.
