Details

Lounge Sitting Area

The main sitting area is accessed off the entrance lobby, and features a full length media wall with storage to suit the modernist style of the fireplace. White shelves were crafted to the architect's specifications from birch plywood and painted to match the surrounding walls.

The additional low-level storage below was custom-made with birch plywood carcasses and faced in lacquered european white oak, with a decorative slatted pattern that is accented throughout the interior. The doors were a handle-less design with push and release catches.

The bench fireplace seat was also topped in lacquered birch plywood, to echo the window seat and window surround details as part of the fit-out.

Kitchen & Island

The kitchen was designed by Handcraft Furnishings in collaboration with the clients and architect, in a floor-to-ceiling galley style. It was constructed entirely from birch plywood, including the cabinet carcasses and drawer boxes, and was faced with painted european white oak framed doors and drawer fronts in a 'narrow-shaker' style. The doors were a handle-less design with push and release catches.

Incorporated into the kitchen design are an oven, microwave and fridge/freezer appliances. Secret doors also lead to a hidden utility room and a separate hidden pantry. The larder has hideaway doors that can retract into the cabinet when open.

The sink area splashback and worktop are surfaced in honed Calcutta marble. This was a later development to improve upon the original brass splashback which can be seen in one of the earlier kitchen images.

The kitchen island was fully designed and crafted by Handcraft Furnishings as a birch plywood construction and faced with decorative slatted european white oak door and drawer fronts.

The doors and drawer fronts feature a handle-less design, hidden away in the simple minimalist style, and could be opened using touch and release catches.

The island is topped with a Calcutta marble work surface, with an integrated halogen hob, complemented with a solid oak breakfast bar counter.

Window Seat & Storage

The window seat and window surround connects the seating area of the kitchen to the children's play area.

The full length console was bespoke manufactured to the architects specifications in lacquered birch plywood, with handle-less access to hidden storage compartments using touch and release catches.

The window surrounds were also lined with lacquered birch plywood to continue the theme.

Hallway Wardrobes & Storage

Also accessed from the entrance lobby is the hallway leading down to the children's bedrooms, lined with a wall length row of floor to ceiling cabinets.

The cabinets are fully constructed from lacquered birch plywood to the architect specifications, and consist of built-in wardrobes, additional storage and an integrated window. Mirrors were also incorporated to maximise any available natural light entering the window.

Children's Bedrooms

To complement the wooden-house style beds in the children's rooms, Handcraft Furnishings crafted bespoke 'homework-station' desks in lacquered birch plywood to the architect's specifications.

These were fitted against the dividing wall, allowing each desk cabinet to incorporate a fun secret door to access the neighbouring bedroom.

Bespoke birch plywood surrounds and custom window shutters were fitted to all of the bedroom windows.

Home Office

On the second level is an open-plan home office manufactured to architects specifications, entirely constructed from lacquered birch plywood in a simple and minimalist style. The work station is and L-shaped desk with shelf space underneath for a printer and other computer accessories.
